The Prenatal Diagnosis Center is a service of the UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal medicine. Genetic counselors in the Center provide information and support to families who are at risk for having a child with a birth defect or genetic disorder. They identify families at risk through family history information, analyze inheritance patterns, and discuss risks of recurrence with the family. In addition, genetic counselors help explain technical information and review a range of prenatal screening and/or testing options available to the patient.
Patients are seen in two locations: The Women’s Hospital at the University of North Carolina Medical Center and the UNC Specialty Women’s Center at The Birth Center of Rex Hospital.
To schedule an appointment at UNC or Rex, please call 919-843-6094. Our fax number is 919-843-7848.
